Black Silver Rings
Our black silver rings are not plated or coated, but are actually black silver. Sterling silver has a jet black oxide, this is a naturally occurring layer on the outside of the silver that protects the inside of the metal from moisture damage. This layer is known as silver oxide or silver rust.
To achieve this blackened silver finish I make the ring from fresh white recycled silver and then submerge the piece in pure sulphur which turns the white silver completely black. I will then polish back the inside of the ring to white silver and depending on the design of the ring I may polish any tips or hight points of the texture.
Black and silver rings offer a unique and modern alternative to traditional gold or platinum bands. The naturally occurring process of oxidisation of black silver creates a striking contrast with the bright silver, resulting in a visually appealing and enduring piece.
Mens wedding bands that incorporate black silver add a touch of masculinity and sophistication. In particular, thick black silver rings can make a bold statement while remaining tasteful. The combination of black and silver can also be used to create intricate designs, adding depth and interest to the piece.
